Dr. Randy Ellis grew up in Pearland, Texas. Upon receiving a football scholarship, he attended the University of Notre Dame where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1983. He then attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston – Dental Branch (UTHSC) where he earned his dental degree in 1987.
Having a desire to work with children led Dr. Ellis to specialize in pediatric dentistry. In 1989, he completed a two-year residency program at the UTHSC to receive a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.
In 1989, Dr. Ellis opened his pediatric dental practice and after 7 years, he returned to the UTHSC to study orthodontics. He received a Certificate of Orthodontics and a Master of Science degree in 1998. Upon receiving his orthodontic degree, Dr. Ellis became one of a very few dually trained specialists in the country – combining an expertise in orthodontics as well as in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Ellis is a Board Certified orthodontist. He currently serves as a faculty member at the UTHSC in the Department of Orthodontics. He also serves as the orthodontist on the University of Texas Cleft Palate Team at Houston.
Research and articles written by Dr. Ellis have been published in various professional journals and magazines.
Dr. Ellis and his wife, Selena, have three children: Erin, Matthew and Shannon.
